What data do we collect?
NCARB collects data when you use our Site, including the following:
- Data You Provide: You may provide your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter or promotional messages. We may also collect any other data you choose to provide if you contact us or otherwise interact with us through the Site.

- Provide you with more information about earning a US license under the agreement between NCARB and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) or other information that may be of interest to you.
- Facilitate educational opportunities or otherwise allow access to or use of certain information, tools, or features.
- Email you with other information as part of any other optional newsletters you subscribe to.
- Send you relevant advertisements , including through Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google Search, and other platforms.
- Respond to your inquiries, including questions about earning a US license.
- Operate and improve our products and services.
- Operate, personalize, and improve the Site, including for analytics purposes.
- Comply with the law and to maintain the security of our Site.
- With your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at the time information is collected.
How will we share data?
NCARB will share the data we collect with third parties, including the following:
- With the Architects Registration Board (ARB) pursuant to our Mutual Recognition Agreement and other, similar professional architectural accreditation bodies;
- With third-party service providers who process information on our behalf, such as data hosting services and email service providers;
- With any affiliates or joint venture partners that we may have in the future;
- As part of a corporate sale, merger, or acquisition, or other transfer of all or part of our assets, including as part of a bankruptcy proceeding;
- Pursuant to a subpoena, court order, governmental inquiry, or other legal process or as otherwise required by law, to protect our rights or the rights of third parties, or to protect the safety or security of any person or entity;
- With your consent or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing.
We may share information that has been de-identified or aggregated without limitation.
What is our legal basis for processing?
We may collect and process data about you where the laws of your jurisdiction permit it. We may rely on the following legal bases to process personal data about you:
- Consent: We have asked for your permission to use personal data. For example, we may ask for your permission to use your email to send you information about obtaining a US license or to send you marketing materials about our programs.
- Legitimate Interest: There is a commercial or business interest that is important to us or others which we’ve balanced against your privacy rights. For example, we may rely on legitimate interest when processing information about you to maintain our network and the security of our Site.
- Legal Obligation: It is necessary to use personal data so that we can fulfil legal and regulatory obligations.
Personal data may be transferred to the United States and to suppliers in countries outside the United Kingdom (UK) and may be stored and processed manually and electronically through global systems and tools for the purposes outlined above.
When transferring personal data to countries outside the UK, we are required to ensure your personal data is adequately protected in the country where it is transferred. We transfer personal data to these countries only when it is subject to safeguards that assure the protection of personal information, such as entering contracts with transferee companies called the standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum, which require companies outside the UK to protect your personal data to the same extent as if it had remained in the UK.
How long do we store data?
NCARB will keep your email address, first name, and last name for two years unless you choose to remain opted in. Once this time period has expired, we will delete the data by globally unsubscribing you from our email lists and deleting your information from relevant platforms. We will retain all other data we collect in accordance with applicable laws and as reasonably necessary for our processing purposes set out under this Privacy Policy. When it is no longer necessary to process data for these purposes, we will deidentify, aggregate, or delete this data to the extent possible.
Marketing
With your consent, NCARB will send you marketing materials, including information about pursuing a US license. You may always withdraw your consent.

Digital advertising & analytics
We may work with third parties that collect information about your use of the Site and other sites and apps over time, including for statistical purposes about your use of the web platform. NCARB uses Google Analytics and other third-party services to improve the performance of the Site and for analytics and marketing purposes.
